Co-founder, Angela Quisumbing sits on Mom’s in Business Panel for Women Inkorporated

Co-founder, Angela Quisumbing had the honor of sitting on a panel with three amazing and successful momprenuers. The panel was part of a 4-Week Series by Wink Inkorprated, a local non-exclusive business women’s networking group, on Women Starting a Business. The Mom’s in Business Panel focused on sharing balancing life and business.

Each mom was asked to introduce themselves and share their “credentials”, how many kids, how old, type of business and current profession. In addition, each mom shared their unique story about how and why they started their business. They shared the good, the bad and the ugly about being a mom in business, including what they wish they had known before launching into business and how they juggle the demands of everyday life and work! They also touched on their passions, and what their driving force is for staying “in the game”. Angela, personally credits a lot of her success to her supporting husband and family who help care for her 2 year old daughter when she’s off running the business with her partner Samantha Migdal!

In turn, the audience asked compelling questions such as, “what plate is it okay to drop,” in which all four women agreed, house cleaning! When it comes down to it, moms, it’s okay to ask for help! Even the best of the best of us can use it!

The panel consisted of the following BOM’s – Business Owner Moms, a term brought up during the panel discussion…

Stephanie Nivinskus, founder of Impressions Marketing Studio. Leveraging the power of digital and traditional media, Stephanie has developed and executed business-building solutions for more than 15 years. Prior to opening Impressions Marketing Studio, Stephanie earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism. Her story, “Confessions of a Former MLM Snob” was published in Chicken Soup For The Network Marketer’s Soul. Stephanie has marketed countless household brand names, including Starbucks, Sprint, Exxon-Mobile, The National Football League, The Body Shop, The San Diego Reader, The San Diego Union-Tribune and Cox Communications.

Denise Scatena, Founding Partner of Scatena Daniels Communications, an award-winning public relations agency. Denise has more than 15 years experience creating and implementing effective public relations strategies to achieve impactful results for various types of organizations. Within her career, Denise has worked with some of the largest and well-known brands, including Cirque du Soleil, Ringling Bros. & Barnum and Bailey Circus, California Pizza Kitchen, University of Phoenix, and Time Warner Cable. Her agency specializes in working with non-profit organizations and socially conscious companies, with clientele including Mama’s Kitchen, San Diego REPertory Theatre, Senior Community Centers, and Marshall Faulk Foundation.

When she isn’t chasing down reporters and editors to pitch ideas, managing live TV segments at 5 a.m. or feverishly monitoring her client’s social media accounts, Denise is chasing down her toughest clients — her toddler twins, Corrine and Amelia — and showing them the best of what our city has to offer.

Joann Woolley, owner and instructor of Sign4Baby, teaching parents how to communicate with their pre verbal children. This month marks 5 years in business. She credits her success to these three things: supporting momprenuers, learning how social media supports marketing efforts, and hiring a business coach. Currently she teaches 9 classes a week, performs 15 story times a month, and continues to expand her programs, leveraging her influence in the community.

Angela Quisumbing, is a mompreneur and professional blogger with a background in event planning, marketing and social media. She is the co-founder of SD Mom’s Night Out, a series of events created to help moms relax, mix and mingle. As co-founder, she is instrumental in bringing three key elements of our community together: moms, businesses and nonprofit organizations. Angela is also the founder of Mira Mesa Mom, a community site dedicated to serving and celebrating moms, while promoting local businesses.
